Tony Cadden
Active member from October 1996 to 2005.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death Tony Cadden, of Orchard Beach, MD, who passed away on Jan. 6, 2006, after a long illness. Tony loved gaming, including trivia and wargames. Tournaments he played at WBC included History of the World. He was also a civil war buff, owning lots of period items and frequently participating in reenactments. Tony had served in the Marines. He is survived by a wife, three brothers and other family members. He was buried in a closed casket ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Jan. 26. 2006.

Donna Dearborn
April 6, 1947 - January 25, 2021
Donna was well known in Maryland gaming circles and a regular attendee at many GCOM locations. She was a skilled player at many games and was the winner of the 2006 Catan tournament at EuroQuest. She also served as Host at the GCOM-Fallston location. Donna was a nurse by profession, a big fan of Mah Jongg and an avid dog lover.

John Goon
October 2017

John was an active member of Games Club of Maryland for many years. He was the host of the Beltsville and Rockville East locations.

Mark Guttag

Dubbed the “Godfather of boardgaming in North Virginia,” Mark was an active member of GCOM and involved in many different aspects of the hobby: in 2006, he was a co-founder of TriaDCon, which eventually became what we know now as Congress of Gamers; he was part of the Northern Virginia chapter of GCOM, serving as host at Fairfax City; and he served as Schedule Coordinator for EuroQuest for four years, from 2005 through 2008. He was at the forefront of the Euros boom in the early 2000s, winning and GMing tournaments in games such as El Grande, Euphrat & Tigris and Taj Mahal.

Hal Haag

Hal was an active member of Games Club of Maryland. He was the host of Alphabet Soup, co-host of Glen Burnie, Elkridge and the former Columbia locations, a GCOM Director at Large, and a regular at several GCOM locations and events. He was also very active in the Baltimore Science Fiction Society and the annual Baltimore Science Fiction Convention ("Balticon").

Doug Hoylman

July 1943 - October 2015

Doug was an active member of Games Club of Maryland for over 15 years. He was the host of the Capitol Hill and Potomac locations, and the co-host of the Rockville South and Silver Spring locations. He was also a GCOM Patron Member and a regular attendee at numerous GCOM locations and events.

Doug Mercer

Doug was an unfortunate victim of the Covid pandemic in 2021, and he was a friend to many in Maryland gaming circles, a frequent attendee at many local GCOM chapters, as well as an avid tournament participant at EuroQuest, WBC and PrezCon. Doug was noted for his keen, acerbic wit as well as his ability to dissect complex board games down to their essentials, often winning in his initial play. He served as co-Host at the GCOM-Overlea location along with his life partner, Christy Applegate, and he also served one term as a GCOM Director at Large.

Harold L. Siegelman

Harold was an avid Bridge and Puerto Rico player. He was a regular at GCOM Columbia.
His memory is honored by EuroQuest's Harold L. Siegelman award.
